Cancellation Policy

American Bowen Academy Cancellation Policy:

Instructors make every effort to promote their classes in order to achieve a minimum number of enrollments. However, there will be times when minimum enrollments are not met and the instructor will need to cancel a class. In those cases, the instructor must cancel the class two weeks prior to the class start date and refund all deposits.

In addition, American Bowen Academy recognizes the fact that students must sometimes cancel a class they have registered for after they have sent in a deposit.

The following policy sets the guidelines regarding instructor and student cancellations and the return of class fees:

  • All deposits ($150/module or CE class) toward a class are nonrefundable unless the class is canceled by the instructor.
  • If a student has paid in full for a class that an instructor cancels, all tuition will be refunded.
  • If a student cancels 22 days or more prior to class, the “early-bird” tuition paid, minus the forfeited deposit, will be applied to another class taught by the same instructor.
  • If a student cancels after the “early bird” registration has ended – within 22 days of class – all tuition will be forfeited.

Training Curriculum and Tuition

Each training module is two full days, from 9 am to 6 pm.

Two modules may be taken back to back; in such a case two months must elapse before taking the next two modules to provide time for practice and to develop an understanding of the power of the moves. Alternatively, if only one module is taken at a time, only one month must elapse between each module.

The $95 registration fee due on the first day of Module 1 is the first-year’s fee that covers a year’s subscription to the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia’s quarterly publication Bowen Hands, admittance to the members’ section of the Bowenwork website, and various administrative costs. The yearly membership fee drops to $50 per year thereafter.

A class may be repeated at a discount of 20%.

What Am I Getting Into?

Things you should know as you start on the Bowenwork journey

There are six modules of new material and a seventh, testing module.

While there are a number of lay persons, wishing only to work on friends and family, who do not go through the entire Bowenwork program, we encourage all professionals to complete the program through Module 7 and be listed on the American Bowen Academy website. To be listed as accredited, a practitioner must meet the requirements listed at https://www.americanbowen.academy/classes/certification_program.

The practitioner search is a rich source of referrals for a dedicated and growing body of clients and other practitioners who appreciate the speed and efficacy of Bowenwork. It represents those practitioners who are willing to see the training to its completion and uphold the standards of the American Bowen Academy.

Staying current with the American Bowen Academy

The $95 registration fee that is first collected at your Module 1 is a first-year’s fee that covers the cost of Bowen Hands; admittance to the members’ section of the website; various administrative duties; and, after accreditation, the website listing and referrals from the administrator. After the first year, this yearly fee drops to $50 and must be paid before you can take and get credit for any continuing education classes.

In addition, 32 hours of continuing education is required every two years.
